The Gap Uniting Church values children and young people as a key part of our church community. We provide groups, activities and events especially for them.

Sunday mornings (School term time)

Our Sunday morning program for young people is dedicated to cultivating a solid foundation of faith, providing a place where they can feel safe and known, and can grow in their understanding of God and their own inherent value. At GROW, curiosity is celebrated, and questioning is encouraged. Through engaging activities, we provide opportunities for children to discover their God-given gifts and explore how they can contribute to the life of the church and positively impact the world around them. We want to partner with parents in helping children grow a rich life-long faith.

We welcome children from toddlers through to the early years of high school, with opportunities for older high school students and young adults to serve in leadership roles.

9.30-11am, Tuesday and Thursday Mornings (School Term Time)

Sprouts Playgroup welcomes all babies and young children (0-4 years) and their parents, grandparents or carers for a morning of play, learning and connection.

We offer a fully fenced space with an outdoor sandpit and mud kitchen. We begin with free play, making use of our range of toys. During this time children can take part in a simple craft activity. At 10:30am the children are invited to sit together for morning tea (BYO). We provide tea and coffee for the grown-ups. We then have circle time with stories and singing to finish our time together.

Young children benefit from practicing social skills, developing fine motor skills through craft and learning to engage in circle time. Recent government research shows that children who regularly attend a playgroup are more likely to be developmentally on track by the time they start school. Parents/carers benefit from the opportunity to talk to other grown-ups and even make lasting friendships.

This is a not-for-profit community playgroup run by the church. Your first two sessions are free and after that we ask for a $6 contribution per family per session to cover basic costs.

Day camp designed is for primary-aged children, where they can look forward to a fun and faith-filled experience, including fire pits, worship, sport, games, devotions, craft, cooking, gunyas, praying, rock climbing – all while learning about Jesus.

The Gap Uniting Church joins other Churches to provide a daily bus service to Samford Valley Community Church for four days during the Winter school holidays.

Children arrive each morning by bus or car and return home each afternoon to enjoy the comfort of their own beds.

For Years 7-8, an intentional leadership stream called Fusion is offered to build valuable leadership skills. Many campers return as young leaders and later continue serving as adults.

The Uniting Church is committed to providing safe places where people are cared for, nurtured and sustained and commits itself to the care, protection and safety of all people, particularly those who are vulnerable. We commit to ongoing compliance with requirements of Queensland Government legislation, and adopt the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod Safe Ministry with Children: Providing Safe Ministry Policy. We will ensure the implementation of procedures and resources to assist our congregation to meet and demonstrate its responsibilities.
