First of all … Happy Mother’s Day to you all! 🎉
Now, I’d like to suggest that you stop reading right now, and go get Granddad, Dad, Nanny, or some other special adult, and ask them to help complete this week’s activity! However, if that doesn’t work …. read on 🙂
For this activity, you will need:
- 2 sheets A4 paper (1 white, 1 green)
- more green paper (can be offcuts, about 1/4 A4 page is needed)
- glue stick
- Felt pen or marker
Cut 3 cm off the long side of your WHITE sheet of paper, and 4cm off the short side.
Cut three “stems” from your second sheet of green paper, one large one for the middle, and two smaller offshoots. You can make these any size you like, as long as they fit on the white page with room for handprints. Curve them towards the top, to create a “stem” shape.
Glue the white page onto the green page, keeping the sides evenly spaced. Make sure when you glue your white page on, that you leave an extra margin at the bottom of the green page, to write Mother’s Day greetings on afterwards.
Glue your stems to your pages, and then use the paintbrush to cover palms and fingers with paint. Press hands firmly onto the page to create handprint flowers.
(NB We didn’t have hands small enough in our isolated house to really do this craft properly! There was a suggestion that I seriously considered, of drafting the dog to help with more appropriately sized flowers, but once I imagined blue paw prints running up and down the hall, I voted very firmly against this plan 😂)
Give to mum for Mother’s Day! Don’t forget to let her know how much she is loved and appreciated. Happy Mother’s Day everyone xx
